10 Less-Stress Local Grocery Alternatives

1. BODEGA HENRIETTE

East-enders rejoice! Bodega Henriette has launched grocery delivery! From the DVP in the West, East to Victoria Park, North to Mortimer and South to Lakeshore. Delivery order minimum is $30 and selection varies from dairy to produce to bread to pantry goods annnd even some of that lucrative TP! This is a great alternative to grocery apps and the perfect way to support local!

2. SALA MODERN THAI

This east end spot is a favourite among locals. Sala Modern Thai prides themselves on following Thai standards from all regions of Thailand! They want you to keep cooking interesting food at home and are offering up meal kits of some of their most popular dishes and will even deliver all over the GTA.  Snap up some if you’re in the following cities: Toronto, Scarborough, North York, Markham, Richmond Hill, Newmarket, Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa, Brampton, Milton, Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington and Hamiliton.

3. TORI’S BAKESHOP

This option will satisfy your sweet-tooth – plus it’s our newest partnership! If you’re tired of attempting your own half-assed baked goods, then check out what Tori’s has to offer. Everything is baked-to-order and vegan, with lots of gluten-free & no-sugar options! They deliver within 30km their Beaches location on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 9am-4pm! Plus – you can add a can of our Vanilla Brown Ale (they have the last of it!), our Hazy Session IPA (save you an LCBO trip), snap up our Can glass AND donate to Nellie’s Women’s Shelter with our special donation pack. Honestly this is a dream combo – freshly baked treats, tasty brews and donation to a local cause. It’s a trifecta!   

4. BLACKBIRD BAKING

One of the city’s favourite bakeries is offering limited deliveries. Blackbird has two basic individual and family bread packs with a selection of add-ons available weekly. You can opt for a one-time order or sign-up for a subscription.

Delivery days are broken down by region: 

• North Toronto: order by noon on Monday for Wednesday delivery
• West Toronto: order by Tuesday at noon for Thursday delivery
• East Toronto: order by noon on Wednesday for Friday delivery. 

Check out their boundaries map online for specifics but you’re looking at a good range from north to Lawrence, west to Parkside and east to Woodbine! Who doesn’t need some tasty sourdough and scones during this time? 

5. FARM’R AT HOME

This farm-to-table restaurant pivoted quickly as the world changed. Instead of only offering take-out, Farm’r also has a selection of prepared meals (saving you from cooking all the time!), staples such as coffee and cookies (pre-baked or baked) plus beer and wine to add-on for extra convenience. They deliver 2 days a week, orders must be placed Sunday by 8pm for Wednesday delivery(11-6pm) or Tuesday by 8pm for Friday delivery(11-6pm).  The menu changes weekly, so bookmark this place to add into your meal rotation. 

6. BIRREIRA VOLO

When Birreira Volo becomes Bottega Volo! This staple of the hard-to-find beer, cider & wine scene is offering a delivery menu as extensive as their usual offerings – so it can bring some normalcy back into your life.  Plus a nice selection of charcuterie, antipasto, cheese and plenty of other goodies! The flat rate for a delivery across Ontario is $15 and will typically take 1-3 days to deliver.  Or pick up is available at 612 College St (Tues-Sat 3-8pm). 

7. 852 CURBSIDE COLLECTIVE

Pop-Up Darlings (aka Masterminds, Bosses, etc) behind Chau, Sausage Party and Phancy Food have come together with 7 other small food businesses as 852 Curbside Collective to sell meal kits and pre-made versions of their top-selling dishes! They’re offering free local delivery for postal codes M2 to M9 for orders over $80. All you have to do is order before Friday at 6pm for Sunday delivery! They have some great Stay-At-Home boxes with everything you need for multiple gourmet meals (with vegan & gluten-free options as well!) You can also make pre-orders online for next-day pickup at 852 King St West (They will even bring it out to your car!) Plus some tasty take-out Wednesday offerings and Mother’s Day Brunch & Dinner kits  – because that day is creeping up! This is perfect if you’re going through some serious brewery pop-up withdrawal! 

8. CIVIL LIBERTIES

Is there anything better than your favourite cocktail bar bringing the goods home to you? The menu at Civil Liberties includes Civil cocktail kits, Vit Beo meal kits, cheese, antipastos, beers, wines and all the liquor options your heart desires! Deliveries every Sunday, with an order spend minimum of $75.  Just have your order in by Saturday at noon. Seriously, they’re the CLBO. The best play on an anagram! 

9. BLOOMERS

Bloomers, a west-end bakery & cafe, is offering all their vegan donuts, cakes, baked goods and breads for delivery with no order minimum but the delivery fee is $20, so you might want to stock up on some bread to freeze or you can opt for free pick up.  Order 48hr in advance for pick up and for delivery within the GTA (only from Fri-Sat 9am-6pm). It’s the perfect way to stock up on treats for your sweet tooth, get your bread fix and snag some coffee beans for home.

10. BELLWOODS BREWPUB

Bellwoods is already on that direct brewery-to-home delivery train but their brewpub location is going even further.  Every Thursday at the Ossington location, they compile a mixture of market boxes (50 x produce & 12 x treat boxes). Featuring tasty goodies we miss like – lambic beer, their new Barn Owl release, cheese, honey, olives, salami, coffee beans and more! They also have a couple of prepared meal options too. These are some great additions to your beer order and it’s a great way to skip the grocery store but still help food suppliers!
